Guardian Industries Corp is currently searching for a talented, experienced and energetic Human Resource Manager to perform as a management group team player, accountable for making HR process happen and to ensure Guardian's culture is implemented while managing its business, people and performance. This individual will be responsible for providing vision for the HR group at our very successful, nonunion manufacturing facility in Carleton, Michigan and will have a significant impact on change management initiatives.
The scope of this position will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Pushes to upgrade and recruit plant talent. Manages the selection of appropriate sources for salaried talent and conducts interviews.
Develops training and development activities aligned with business needs.
Develops a process to identify and develop the next generation of leaders.
A proactive self-starter that is comfortable spending critical time on the manufacturing floor and interacting with all employees. A mentor and coach to the line staff, guiding them in their growth.
Conducts supervisory training in interviewing, union free, Lean, policies and procedures, legal and safety, and Guardian's culture and strategic focus.
Manages the performance management process to facilitate identification of performance potential.
Conducts training in compensation and performance discussion principles.
Prepares information and input for salary reviews.
Develops and improves the communication process so that all employees are aligned to strategy.
Participates in employee town hall meetings, morning meetings and shift meetings.
Responsible for employee relations including counseling employees, conducting fact finding meetings, union avoidance activities and employee surveys.
Supervise HR staff, community activities, employee wellness, safety-loss control and plant security.
Job Requirements :
The background and experience requirements for this position are as follows:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field. MBA degree a plus. SHRM certification a plus.
Minimum 10 years' experience in increasingly senior positions in HR management; manufacturing/production (plant) environment experience required.
Extensive experience with change management initiatives is required.
Ability to influence others via strong relationships, negotiation and analytical skills.
Proven ability to evaluate, develop, recruit, retain and coach high caliber people.
Human Resources experience in all facets of the function including employee relations, compensation, benefits, organizational development and training, internal consulting and coaching, information systems, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated track record of success in recruiting salaried and hourly employees. Knowledge of behavioral based interviewing a plus.
Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining a union-free work environment in a manufacturing facility.
Experience in researching, developing, and implementing HR best practices.
Knowledge of Lean.
Excellent communication skills; oral, written and presentation.
Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to travel to domestic and international locations. (20%)
Willingness to relocate domestically in the future.
